Tujoromajo Kasuto Namibia’s Covid-19 death toll has reached an alarming 3000 and continues to grow at a gradual pace, with the country recording over 1500 deaths in July only. Since the outbreak of the virus up to June 30, Namibia had recorded a total of 1521 deaths. The country has now exceeded the 3000 COVID-19 death mark, based on the latest figures from the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), with a total of 3064 recorded deaths. Namibia in record COVID deaths

Staff Writer A record eight people died from COVID-19 in one day, bringing the country’s related deaths to 293, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) announced on Monday. According to the ministry, four of the deaths announced, are from Oshakati district, two from Windhoek district, and one each from the districts pf Swakopmund and Rundu. Rössing Uranium, Swakop Uranium support road safety

Staff Writer CNNC Rössing Uranium and Swakop Uranium has announced that it has installed Stimsonite road studs on the B2 road between Swakopmund and Arandis as part of the mines’ continued efforts in supporting communities in which they operate. According to the miners, the project is geared to improve road safety on the 40 kilometres stretch of road from the road block outside Swakopmund to the turn-off at Arandis, a distance of just over 40 kilometres. Namibia placed under national curfew ..as the country opens borders to tourists

Andrew Kathindi President Hage Geingob has extended stage 3 lockdown measures currently in place across the country’s 14 regions for an additional period of 14 days. The President has also extended the curfew, which was introduced on 13 August and currently being enforced in Erongo and Khomas regions, between 8PM and 5AM daily, to all 14 regions across the country. Namibia reverts to stage 3 restrictions

Andrew Kathindi President Hage Geingob ordered that the country revert to stage 3 of the state of emergency lockdown starting Wednesday midnight 12 August, amid rising COVID-19 cases in the country, particularly Windhoek. The lockdown according to Geingob, will last for 16 days and as part of the new dispensation, measures which were applicable to Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Arandis have now extended to Windhoek, Okahandja and Rehoboth. Govt turns to mass houses for quarantine

Staff Writer Unallocated mass houses in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund could be turned into quarantine facilities amid rising COVID-19 cases and insufficient isolation centers. “I have requested the Governor to investigate the feasibility of using the unallocated mass houses in Swakopumd and Walvis Bay to place people there.
